Getting startedJoining a team

Joining a team

When someone at a salon or mobile grooming business adds you to their team, Groomr sends you an invitation. Accepting it takes a minute or two: you create your account, add your name and photo, and say when you work. Then you’re in.

The invitation email

The email’s subject is “You’ve been invited to join” followed by the business’s name. It says who invited you and the role they gave you, such as Employee or Front Desk, and has an Accept Invitation button.

An invitation lasts two weeks. If you weren’t expecting it, you can ignore it.

Accept your invitation

  1. In the email, click Accept Invitation.
  2. If you’re not signed in, Groomr takes you to sign in. If you’re new to Groomr, create your account there. Use the email address the invitation was sent to.
  3. Once you’re signed in, Groomr adds you to the team and opens your welcome.

If something’s wrong with the link, Groomr tells you why:

You seeWhat to do
This invitation has expiredAsk whoever invited you to send a fresh one
We don’t recognize this invitationIt may have been used already, or replaced by a newer one. Ask for another

Your welcome

The welcome is at most two screens: your profile, then your hours.

Screen 1: your profile. “Welcome — let’s set up your profile.”

  1. Click Add a photo to add a picture of yourself (optional).
  2. Check Your name. It starts with the name the owner typed, if they typed one.
  3. Add your Mobile number (optional). It’s never shown to clients.
  4. Click Continue.

Screen 2: your hours. “When do you work?”

  1. Choose one:
    • Same as the business: your hours follow the business’s, including when they change.
    • I work different hours: set each day yourself. Turn off any day you don’t work.
  2. Click Save hours.

Not sure yet? Click Skip for now. You’ll work the business’s hours until you change them.

When you finish, Groomr shows what’s set: your profile, your role, your hours, and who set your access. Click Go to Groomr to start.

When you’ll see fewer screens

  • You already have a Groomr account. You skip the profile screen. Your name and photo belong to your account, so they stay as they are.
  • You can’t be booked for grooms, for example as a receptionist or bookkeeper. You skip the hours screen, because nothing is scheduled for you.
  • Both. You see one screen confirming you’re all set, and click Finish.

If you already have a Groomr account, the owner’s invitation adds you to the team straight away, and no invitation email is sent. Sign in to Groomr and your welcome opens.

What your role decides

Whoever invited you chose a role for you, such as Employee or Front Desk. Your role decides what you can see and change in Groomr, and what Groomr will do for you when you ask. Anything your role doesn’t include simply doesn’t appear.

Only someone who manages the team can change your role. See Team and roles.

Ask Groomr

Once you’re in, ask Groomr what you can do:

“What can you do?”

Groomr answers for your business and your role.

To change your hours later:

“I don’t work Mondays”

“I work 9 to 5 on Saturdays”

Groomr changes your own weekly hours. See Hours and time off.

Good to know

  • One business per account. Groomr opens one business when you sign in, and there’s no way to switch between businesses yet. If you work for two businesses, use a different email address for each, and ask each owner to invite that address.
  • Your hours override the business’s for your own bookings. Change them any time by asking Groomr, or see Hours and time off.
  • Asked for an invite code? Groomr is in closed beta, and your team invitation is what lets you in. Open the Accept Invitation link and sign up with the address it was sent to. A team invitation lets you join that business, not create a business of your own.
