Vaccines

Each pet’s vaccines are kept as dated records, so Groomr can warn you before one runs out. You record them by telling Groomr, or by sending it a photo of the vaccine card.

Ask Groomr

Tell it the dates

“Biscuit’s rabies is good through March 2027”

“Luna had her DHPP and Bordetella today, both due again next October”

Groomr records each vaccine you mention on the pet’s profile. The expiry date matters most, because that is what the warnings run on. If two pets share the name, it asks which owner.

Send a photo of the card

Attach a photo of the card: “Here’s Bella’s vaccine card”

Groomr reads the vaccines off the card and shows you a card titled I read Bella’s vaccine card — check these:. Nothing is saved yet.

  1. Check each row: the vaccine, what the card printed, when it was given and when it expires. Rows Groomr wasn’t sure of are marked Check. Shots that have already run out are marked Expired.
  2. To fix a row, select Edit. You can change the type and dates, remove a row, or add one. Select Done editing when you’re finished.
  3. Select Save, or Not now to throw the card away.

If you didn’t say whose card it is, Groomr asks. If the photo isn’t a vaccine record, or is too hard to read, Groomr says so and asks for a clearer photo or the dates. The photo of the card is filed with the pet.

Or do it yourself

  1. Open the pet’s profile from the Directory.
  2. Go to Care, then Vaccines.

Each vaccine shows its status and expiry date. Vaccines are records rather than fields, so they don’t appear in Edit pet. To add or renew one, tell Groomr or send it the card.

Good to know

  • Statuses on the pet’s profile:

    StatusMeans
CurrentExpires more than 30 days from now
    Expiring soonExpires within 30 days
    ExpiredThe expiry date has passed
No dateNo expiry date was recorded
  • Groomr knows these vaccine types: Rabies, DHPP (distemper/parvo), Bordetella, Leptospirosis, Canine influenza, FVRCP (feline) and Other. Combination shots such as DAPP or DA2PP count as DHPP.

  • Renewing a vaccine adds a new record. The profile shows the latest one for each type.

  • On a card, each row you save needs at least one date. If none do, the card asks you to Add an expiry date for at least one vaccine.

  • If you get the daily agenda, it points out vaccines on today’s pets that have expired or expire within 14 days, so you can ask the owner for an updated record at the visit. See Today and nudges.

  • Seeing a pet’s vaccines needs View Clients (clients.view), which every default role has.
