Promotions
A promotion takes money off the price. Use one to bring work in on a quiet day, such as 20% off Tuesdays, or to reward a first visit.
Ask Groomr
“How are my promotions doing?”
Groomr tells you how many times each promotion was used and how much it gave away, over the last 30 days unless you name another period. Owners, Admins and Managers can ask this.
Groomr can’t create or change promotions for you yet. You can ask it how they work, and it will answer from this page.
Or do it yourself
- Go to Settings → Commerce → Promotions.
- Under Active promotions, click New promotion.
- Fill in Name, such as “Tuesday Tune-Up”.
- In Shown as, enter what the client sees on the receipt. Leave it empty to use the name.
- Under Discount, choose Percent or Amount, then enter how much.
- Under Days it applies, tick the days. Leave them all off to apply it any day.
- Leave Code empty for an automatic promotion. See the note on codes below.
- Under Runs, set a start and end date, or leave them empty to run indefinitely.
- Under Redemption limit, set a total cap, a cap for each client, or both. Leave them empty for no cap.
- Choose whether to Combine with others.
- Check Active is on.
- Click Create.
To change a promotion, click its row, make your changes and click Save. To delete one, open it and press and hold Delete until the bar fills.
Good to know
Automatic promotions apply on their own at checkout whenever the appointment matches. The list marks them automatic.
Promo codes. If you fill in Code, the promotion only applies when that code is entered. Checkout doesn’t have a place to enter a code yet, so a coded promotion won’t apply for now. Leave Code empty for promotions you want working today.
Combining promotions. With Combine with others off (the default), a promotion is never mixed with others. With it on, it can stack with other promotions that are also set to combine. Either way, Groomr works out both and gives the client whichever is the better deal.
Redemption limits. A use is counted when the appointment is paid. Once a promotion reaches its total limit, or a client reaches their own limit, it stops applying. When a promotion has a total limit, its row shows how many have been used, such as “3/10 used”.
The $5 floor. A promotion never takes a price below $5.
Pause instead of delete. Turn Active off to keep a promotion without applying it. The list shows it as paused.
Seeing what it cost. Once a promotion has been used, the page shows three totals:
| Tile | What it means |
|---|---|
| Given away | The total discount, across every use |
| Average discount | What one use costs you |
| Brought someone new | Uses on a client’s first appointment |
Each row also shows what that promotion has given away, how many times it was used and when it was last used, or Never redeemed.
Who can do it. Owners and Admins can create and change promotions.
