Finish setting up

Once your setup screens are done, Groomr can take bookings. A few optional jobs are left, and the Finish setting up checklist keeps track of them: importing your clients, connecting payments, your booking page, your team and, for mobile grooming, your van and service area.

Nothing on the list is required. Each item says what it gets you, so you can decide what’s worth doing now.

Ask Groomr

Groomr doesn’t work through the checklist for you, but it can help with some of the items:

“How do I import my clients from Gingr?”

“Add a van called Van 2, a white 2021 Ford Transit”

“Add a nail trim for $20, 15 minutes, mobile”

The sections below say which items Groomr can help with.

Where to find it

  • Settings opens on the checklist until every item is handled.
  • Finish setup, at the top of the Settings menu, shows how many items are left.
  • The count also appears next to App settings in your account menu.
  • Your conversation with Groomr shows the next item to do, for example “When you have a minute — import your clients, and 2 more”. Select it to open the checklist.

How it works

The checklist has two parts:

  • Next up: the items still to do. Each has a Start button that opens the right page, and a second button for when the item doesn’t apply to you, such as I work alone or I take cash.
  • Done: the items you’ve finished or answered. Select Done to collapse or expand the list.

The bar at the top counts both kinds. Under it, Already done reminds you what you set up on the setup screens.

An item counts as done when Groomr sees that the work is finished, for example once you have at least one client. You don’t tick anything off. If you choose the second button instead, the item moves to Done with your answer, such as “Working solo”.

Changed your mind? Select the item under Done to open its page and do it. Once the work is finished, the item shows as done.

When every item is handled, Settings shows You’re all set up. Select Go to Business settings. From then on, Settings opens on your business profile.

The items

Import your clients

“Bring your book over from PetExec, Gingr, ProPet — or a spreadsheet.” Your client history comes with you, so you don’t type everyone in again.

How: select Start to open the importer. See Bring your clients over.

Done when you have at least one client, whether you imported them or added them yourself. Not bringing anyone over? Choose Starting fresh.

Connect payments

“Take cards in person and online.” Groomr uses Stripe to take card payments. On Pay-as-you-go, connecting Stripe also lowers what you pay Groomr for each groom.

How: select Start, then Connect Stripe account and follow Stripe’s steps. See Getting paid.

Done when you’ve connected your Stripe account. Only take cash? Choose I take cash.

Publish your booking page

“Let clients book themselves, around the clock.” Clients can book without calling you.

How: select Start to open your business profile, and check that Accept online bookings is on. Select Copy next to Booking link to share it. See Business profile.

Done when Accept online bookings is on and you have at least one service. Both are true after setup, so this item usually starts as done. Prefer to take every booking yourself? Choose I’ll book them myself.

Invite your team

“Everyone gets their own login, calendar, and appointments.” Work lands on the right person.

How: select Start, then Invite team member. See Team and roles. Groomr can’t send invites from chat.

Done when someone besides you is on your team. An invite counts, even before they accept. Working on your own? Choose I work alone.

Add your van and mobile services

For a business with a salon and a van. Setup covers your salon, and this item covers the mobile side. Once it’s done, clients can book mobile appointments.

How: add your van under Settings → Business → Profile → Vehicles (see Business profile), then add services to your Mobile menu (see Your service menu). Groomr can add the van and mobile services from chat.

Done when you have at least one van and at least one mobile service. Staying salon only? Choose Salon only for now.

Fine-tune your service area

“Draw the exact shape — carve out the far side of the river.” A service area lets Groomr turn away requests from outside the places you go.

How: select Start to open Vehicles, then open a van and set its Home base & service area. See Business profile. Groomr can’t set a service area from chat.

Done when at least one van has a service area. For a mobile business, the travel distance you chose during setup usually counts, so this item often starts as done. Happy with what you have? Choose My travel area is fine.

Good to know

  • Nothing here blocks bookings. Everything Groomr needs to take a booking was set on the setup screens. See Set up your business.
