Tax

Tax sets the sales tax rate added at checkout and which kinds of sale it applies to. Set it once, and change it if your rate changes.

Ask Groomr

“Set our sales tax to 8.25% and don’t charge it on grooming”

Groomr changes the rate and what it applies to, then shows you your settings so you can check them. Owners and Admins can ask this.

Or do it yourself

  1. Go to Settings → Commerce → Tax.
  2. Under Sales tax, enter your Rate (%), such as 8.25. Leave it empty if you don’t charge sales tax.
  3. Turn Charge on services on or off. This covers grooms and add-ons.
  4. Turn Charge on products on or off. This covers retail, such as shampoo, collars and treats.
  5. Click Save changes.

Good to know

Defaults. Until you change them, Charge on services is off and Charge on products is on. Many states tax retail but not grooming. Check the rules where you work.

Where it applies. Checkout applies this rate to every sale, walk-ins and appointments, and refunds reverse it. Only the kinds of sale you switch on are taxed.

Filing is separate. This page only sets what’s charged. Filing and returns stay in Bookkeeping.

Who can do it. Owners and Admins can change tax settings.
