Hours and time off

Your hours decide when clients can be booked. There are two levels: the business’s hours and closures, which apply to everyone, and each person’s own weekly hours and time off.

Ask Groomr

“We’re closed on December 24 for Christmas Eve”

Groomr closes the whole business for that date, so nobody can be booked that day. It confirms the date and the reason when it’s done.

“I don’t work Mondays” or “I work 9 to 5 on Saturdays”

Groomr changes your own weekly hours. Only the days you name change; the rest of your week stays as it was.

“Block me out Friday 2 to 4pm for a dentist appointment”

Groomr blocks that time on your own calendar for one date, for the whole day or a time range. Nothing can be booked with you in that time. If you don’t give a date, it asks for one.

Groomr doesn’t change the business’s opening hours from chat. Set those in Settings, as below.

Or do it yourself

Set your opening hours

  1. Go to Settings → Business → Schedule.
  2. If you haven’t set hours yet, click Set up availability. Otherwise open the Opening hours tab and click Edit hours.
  3. Set your usual hours for each day. You can copy one day to others.
  4. Click Save.

Add a closure or one-off change

  1. Go to Settings → Business → Schedule and open the Closures tab.
  2. Click Add exception.
  3. Under What’s this for?, choose Time off to close or block hours, or Extra availability to add open hours beyond your usual week. Click Continue.
  4. Pick date. You can pick several days; each gets the same change.
  5. Choose Full day or Part of day. For part of a day, Pick time.
  6. Optionally Add note, then click Save & continue.

The list under Upcoming closures can be filtered by All, Time off, Blocks and Special hours. Each closure says how many groomers it closes and names anyone whose own schedule overrides it.

Close for holidays

  1. Go to Settings → Business → Schedule and open the Holidays tab.
  2. Turn on the holidays you close for under Federal holidays.
  3. To see more, turn on Include popular holidays.

Turning on a holiday closes you for that day every year, for years ahead, so you only do it once.

Set your own hours and time off

Each person’s weekly hours live on their own profile card, not in Settings. Open your card and choose Edit hours.

Good to know

  • You need weekly hours before you can add closures or holidays.
  • Settings → Business → Schedule and closing the business for a day need permission to edit everyone’s schedule (schedule.edit.any). By default that’s the Owner, Admin and Manager roles.
  • Changing your own hours or blocking your own time needs schedule.edit.self, which every default role has.
  • The switch that turns your online booking page on or off is on your profile, not here. See Business profile.
