Commands and mentions
There are two shortcuts in the chat box. / commands do things: each one
fills in a ready-to-send request and walks you through the details. @
mentions pin an exact client or pet, so Groomr acts on the right one
without asking “which one?”.
/ Commands
Type / in the chat box to open the command menu, then pick a command.
| Command | What it does |

You don’t have to use a command. Typing the same request in your own words works too.
@ Mentions
Type @ and a few letters, then pick from the list as you type.
| Mention | What it pins | Example |
|---|---|---|
| @‹client› | The exact client, even when two share a name. The list shows their phone so you pick the right one. | ”@Jane Doe update phone to 859-555-0123” |
| @‹pet› | The exact dog, so Groomr skips looking up the client and pet. | ”@Mochi add allergy: chicken” |
Client and pet mentions also work inside booking, reschedule, cancel and checkout, for example “checkout @Jane Doe” or “reschedule @Mochi’s appointment to next Tuesday 2pm”.
For breed questions, just ask in your own words, for example “what blades for a bernedoodle?”. Groomr answers from its grooming reference.
Good to know
- Why mention at all? It picks the exact record when names are shared, saves Groomr asking “which one?”, and you don’t need to remember the exact spelling.
- A command or mention only fills in the request. What happens next follows the same rules as any other request, including approvals and what your role allows.
